Buena Vista, VA- The Salem College Basketball Team traveled north Friday to play Kentucky Christian University in the opening round of the Southern Virginia University Basketball Tournament. After a close first half of basketball, Kentucky Christian pulled ahead by 12 points during the second half. Salem pulled within 4 points with four minutes left. KCU’s Jennipher Swann took over by hitting three 3-pointers to secure the win 64-49.

Salem (2-8) was led by Casey Jones (So, Winston-Salem, NC) with 21 points. Kentucky Christian (13-3) was led by Jennipher Swann with 15 points. Christen Daniels scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Ashley Baldwin added 11 points.

Salem College will play in the consolation game on Saturday at 12 noon against Wilson College.
