Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College Basketball Team hosted Bennett College Thursday night in the Spirit’s final game of the 2007-2008 season. With only six players, the Spirits celebrated Valentine’s Day by beating the Bennett Belles 71-60. The Spirits won their 9th game of the season tonight while hitting 27 of 33 free throws (81.8%) and eight 3-pointers.

Michala Michaux (So, Morganton, NC) led the Spirits (9-14) in scoring with 22 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. Kelsey Rector (FY, State Road, NC) scored 20 points while Jasmine Glenn (So, Winston-Salem, NC) added 17 points. Courtney Sauer (FY, Carthage, NC) led the Spirits in rebounding with 16 and scored 10 points. Stephanie Wilson (So, Morganton, NC) and Lauren Redman (So, Lenoir, NC) each scored a point in the Spirits 5th consecutive victory over the Belles in the past two seasons.

The Bennett College Belles (15-8) were led by Nicole Miller (17 pts), Kennetta Johnson (15 pts) and Asia Smith (12 pts, 13 reb).
