Basketball blows out Agnes Scott by 25

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team destroyed Agnes Scott today at home (65-40) to cap off a great regular season. The Spirits celebrated Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) and Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) in their final home game as Spirits with a 25-0 2nd-half run. The win also moves the Spirits into a 2nd-place tie with Agnes Scott to conclude the conference regular season play. Salem finished the regular season at 15-10 overall, just one win shy of the school record for basketball wins.

Miller hit three huge 2nd-half three-pointers and finished with 9 points. Denerson was strong on the boards leading the Spirits with 9 rebounds.

The two teams went back and forth in the 1st-half, and the Spirits started to break away towards the end of the half. They went into the break with a 31-23 lead. The Spirits blew the door open to start the 2nd half. After the Scotties cut it to 34-29, Salem went on their 25-0 run to take a 59-29 lead.

The Spirits held a 39-34 rebound advantage and a 15-4 steal advantage in the game. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) led the Spirits with 20 points and 5 steals. Denerson also recorded 2 blocks. 

The Spirits will wait to see who they will take on in the quarterfinals of next weekend's Great South Tournament in Alabama.
