Basketball cruises to conference win against Spelman

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team blew by Spelman early for a 75-52 win. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) led the Spirits with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. Salem improves to 12-10 overall and 5-3 in the Great South, while Spelman drops to 7-16 and 4-5.

After falling behind 3-2, Salem went on an 18-0 run to break the game open early. They put away 53 points in the 1st half and took a 29 point lead into the break. 

Salem dominated the boards with a 44-22 advantage. They also caused the Jaguars to turn the ball over 26 times. 

Shaniqua Collins (Hoffman, NC) went 3 for 6 from behind the 3-point line and scored 13 points. Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) and Denika Harden (Youngstown, OH) each had 5 assists for Salem. Jazmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) finished with 11 points.

The Spirits return to the road on Monday as they travel 2 blocks to take on Piedmont International at 5:00.
