Basketball falls to Guilford at home

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team lost a non-conference game to Guilford College, 70-57. Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) had a monster game with 21 points and 11 rebounds. The Spirits fall to 8-7, while the Quakers improve to 13-3 overall.

Guilford jumped out to a 15-8 lead, but Salem closed the score to 17-15 with 9:44 remaining in the 1st half. The Quakers went into the break with a 34-26 advantage. They would open the lead up to 19 with 10:34 remaining in the game at 52-33.  Salem would not go away and cut the lead to 9 with 5:41 remaining.

Shaniqua Collins (Hoffman, NC) finished with 10 points for the Spirits. Bria Patterson (Winterhaven, FL) had 7 rebounds. Zy Henderson (Inman, SC) led the team with 3 assists and 4 steals.

The Quakers had a 44-40 rebound advantage and the Spirits had a 13-7 steal advantage.

Salem returns to the road this weekend with 2 Great South games in Decatur, GA. They kickoff the road-trip at Agnes Scott on Saturday in a game of the only remaining unbeaten teams in the GSAC.
