Basketball storms past Wesleyan in 82-31 rout

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College Spirits moved into a 1st-place tie with

Huntingdon and Agnes Scott in the Great South with a rout over Wesleyan.  The Spirits went up 18-0 and cruised to an 82-31 win. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) scored a season-high 34 points. She moved into Salem's record books with 13 made field goals in the game. Salem improves to 11-8 overall and 4-1 in the GSAC, while Wesleyan falls to 1-11 and 0-5.

Salem dominated the whole game. They went into halftime with a 45-18 lead and it never got closer in the 2nd half. The Spirits shot 43.8% from the field, and had a 61-19 rebound advantage. 

Taylor added 6 rebounds and 5 steals, and she drained 6 three-pointers. Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) finished with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Elizabeth Penley (Newport, NC) led the team with 11 rebounds. Kristal Lollis (Oberlin, LA) finished with 5 assists.

The Spirits will travel to Georgia to take on Covenant on Tuesday at 6:00.
