Basketball uses dominant first half to beat PIU

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team rolled to a 36-point lead in the 1st half and eased to a win against Piedmont International University in non-conference play. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) dropped 20 points in the 77-32 victory for the Spirits. Salem improves to 13-10 with the win.

The Spirits ran out to a 42-6 lead at the break against the short-handed Crusaders. The Spirits dominated on the boards with a 52-14 advantage. They also caused 26 turnovers in the game and had 16 steals. 

Elizabeth Penley (Newport, NC) led Salem with 8 rebounds. Brandi Wilkey (Atlanta, GA) had 5 steals and 6 assists in the game for the Spirits. 

Salem travels to Georgia for their regular season road finale on Wednesday at Wesleyan College.
