Basketball blows out Peace for third-place in Jackie Ammons

Raleigh, NC-The Salem College basketball team crushed William Peace (70-52) to take third-place in the 2013 Jackie Ammons Tournament. Hartwick was the overall champion after beating Emory and Henry. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) poured in 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals in the game and was selected to the all-tournament team. Salem improves to 1-3, while Peace falls to 0-4.

The game was tied at 16 with 6:57 left in the first half and then the floodgates opened for the Spirits. Salem went on an 11-0 run over the next two minutes, and then went into the break with a 41-27 lead. Salem never looked back in the second half and got as big as a 24 point lead.

Bria Patterson (Winterhaven, FL) had an amazing 12 assists to lead Salem. LaSashia Connelly (Morganton, NC) added 13 points and Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) led the team with 11 rebounds. 

The Spirits get a break through Thanksgiving, and they will host their first home game on December 2nd when they try to sweep William Peace.
