Basketball holds off Washington & Lee for their 16th straight win

Lexington, VA-The Salem College basketball team defeated Washington and Lee 62-53 for their 16th straight victory of the season. Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) continued her dominant play over the last several games with 21 points and 15 rebounds to spark the Spirits. Salem improves to 16-3, while W & L drops to 5-13.

Salem started the game a little slower than usual, and W & L held a lead for the first ten minutes. The Generals held a 16-10 lead. Salem bounced back and went on a 22-7 run to close out the half. Salem's biggest lead in the 2nd half was 12, and W & L was only able to get within 6 points.

Bianca Ritchwood (Columbia, SC) exploded on offense with 17 points. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) finished with 11 points, and had a very strong defensive effort with 16 boards and 6 blocks. Zy Henderson (Spartanburg, SC) led the Spirits with 6 steals and 4 assists.

Salem returns home to host the Apprentice School on Saturday.
