Basketball season ends in first round of NCAA Tournament

Crestview Hills, KY-The Salem College basketball team completed the best season for a Salem basketball team ever with a loss to Thomas More in the first round of the NCAA DIII Tournament. The Spirits were faced with a large task of trying to defeat the number one team in the country on their own court. Thomas More pulled out a 95-58 win. The Great South Champion Spirits end their season with a 21-5 record.

Jasmine Shabazz led the Spirits with 20 points on 10-12 from the field. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) finished with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. 

Thomas More (29-0) jumped out to an early 26-11 lead in the first nine minutes. They were able to extend that lead to 50-25 at the break. Thomas More will take on John Carroll in the 2nd round tomorrow. John Carroll defeated Texas Lutheran 74-62 in the first game of the day.
