Basketball wins big against Wesleyan

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team won their record 14th game in a row with an 81-40 victory against Great South conference rival, Wesleyan College. Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) had a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Spirits. Salem improves to 14-3 and 2-0 in GSAC play, while Wesleyan falls to 2-13 and 1-1.

After the Wolves cut the score to 9-6, Salem went on a 36-12 run to finish out the first-half. Wesleyan was never able to get closer than 28 points in the second half. Salem forced 23 turnovers, and they had an impressive 58-29 rebounding advantage. 

Shabazz was 7-12 from the field. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) had a game-high 25 points, with 15 of those coming in the 2nd half. LaSashia Connelly (Morganton, NC) added 11 points off the bench for Salem. Zy Henderson (Spartanburg, NC) led the Spirits with 4 steals. 

Salem returns to action on Monday as they travel to Methodist for an important road game at 7:00.
