Basketball wins Great South Regular Season

Macon, GA-The Salem College basketball team clinched their first Great South Athletic Conference Regular Season Title with an 84-35 blowout of Wesleyan on the road. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) finished with a game-high 32 points and 12 rebounds. Salem finished their regular season with a 19-4 record, and Wesleyan falls to 2-17.

The game was tight for the first 13 minutes with Salem holding a 17-14 advantage. They finished the half on a 27-4 run. They started the second half on another giant run. This time beating Wesleyan 30-4 over the first 12 minutes of the half.

The Spirits held a 68-42 advantage on the boards. They forced 24 turnovers off of 18 steals in the game. 

Taylor led the team with 2 blocks. Zy Henderson (Inman, SC) had a game-high 4 steals. Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) finished with 13 points and Quantashea Lewis (Hartford, CT) had 11 rebounds. 

Salem will now wait for three weeks to play in the Great South Tournament as the number one seed. The tournament will be held at Trinity Washington with a berth in the NCAA Tournament on the line.
