Taylor scores 1000th point in GSAC Semifinal Win

Washington, D.C.-The Salem College basketball team cruised passed Maine Presque-Isle, 71-47, in today's Great South Athletic Conference semifinals hosted at Trinity Washington. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) led the Spirits with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Her 11th point gave her 1,000 total points at Salem in just two years. She becomes just the 2nd player at Salem to reach this milestone (Kelsey Rector CO '11). Salem improves to 20-4, and UMPI concludes their season at 18-7.

The Spirits will play Pine Manor tomorrow in the championship game (1:00). Pine Manor squeaked by Trinity Washington in the other semifinal today, 85-77. 

The game was never really close today with the Spirits going into the half with a convincing 42-18 lead. The Spirits were on cruise control in the 2nd half, as they reached their 2nd straight GSAC Championship game. 

Quantashea Lewis (Hartford, CT) had a strong performance with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) scored 12 points for Salem.
