Basketball loses at home to Maryville

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team battled hard against Maryville in their first home game, but the Scots were able to pull out the 76-58 win. Quantashea Lewis had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way for Salem. She also added 6 steals. The Spirits fall to 0-2, while Maryville improves to 4-1.

The game went back and forth throughout the first half. Salem jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and held the lead for the first 5 minutes. Maryville led the remainder of the first-half and went into the break with a 43-35 advantage. 

The first 5 minutes of the second-half saw Salem keep the game within reach. Maryville's Mackenzie Puckett proved to be too much with her 27 points and 10 rebounds as the Scots took advantage down the stretch of the game. 

Kristal Lollis had a strong night with 12 points and a team-leading 3 assists. Alexihonna Bush had 2 blocks, and Hannah McBride, MiKayla Sievers, and Lollis all had 2 steals.

The Spirits return home on Saturday when they host Johnson University at 2:00.
