Comeback falls just short for basketball

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team mounted a major comeback that fell just short tonight against Emory & Henry. Quantashea Lewis had a monster night with 26 points on 11-18 from the field. Salem falls to 1-4, while the Wasps improve to 3-5.

It took a large portion of the first-half for either team to get going. Emory and Henry went up 8-2 early, and took a 30-13 lead into the break. The second half started with the two teams trading buckets, before Salem mounted a comeback over the last ten minutes to cut the lead to as low as 5. The Wasps were able to convert their free-throws down the stretch to hold on for the win. 

Kristal Lollis led the Spirits with 10 rebounds, and Lewis added 8. Alexihonna Bush scored 12 points and led the team with 2 blocks. Zykeya Henderson had a team-high 4 steals and she added 5 rebounds. MiKayla Seivers led the Spirits with 5 assists.

The Wasps out-rebounded Salem 43-35. Each team finished with 20 turnovers. Salem is off until the 29th of December when they travel to Georgia to take on Emory at Piedmont College.
