Basketball wins second in a row

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team picked up their second straight win with a 64-52 win against Georgia Wesleyan. The Spirits also remained undefeated in conference play. Sabrina Shepherd led the team with 21 points. Salem improves to 5-11 and 2-0 in the Great South.

The first 15 minutes were back and forth, and Salem held a 17-15 advantage with 4:48 left in the half. The Spirits closed out the half on a 13-6 run. The Spirits started the second half on a 10-2 run to open up a 40-23 lead with 14:35 remaining. They opened up the lead to 52-31 with 7:05 remaining. The Wolves went on a 16-4 run to cut the lead to 9, before Salem held off their run.

Quantashea Lewis finished with another double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. She also led the team with 6 assists. Zykeya Henderson led the Spirits with 8 steals, and she added 8 ponts. Hannah McBride had a strong game with 9 points. 

Salem stays home to take on Washington Adventist on February 15th.
