Basketball falls at Lynchburg

Lynchburg, VA-The Salem College basketball team fell 88-50 at Lynchburg tonight. Salem was playing without their head coach and two of their starters. Sabrina Shepherd led the Spirits with 17 points. Salem falls to 1-5, while Lynchburg improves to 5-2. 

Head Coach Britni Mohney was unable to attend the away game today since she is recovering from surgery last weekend. The Spirits also played without starters Alexiahonna Bush and Shaniqua Collins. Salem held the game very close in the first quarter, and Lynchburg only held a 23-19 lead. They were able to extend that lead to 48-24 at the half. 

Quntashea Lewis had to sit out the majority of the second quarter with foul trouble, but she finished with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Shepherd also had 5 rebounds. Mikayla Seivers and Tamara Blanton each had 8 points for Salem. Seivers also led the team with 5 assists. 

The Spirits return home on Saturday when they host Piedmont at 2:00.
