Late comeback falls short against Piedmont

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team lost 88-65 today against Piedmont today at home. Quntashea Lewis had a huge game with 27 points and 19 rebounds. Salem falls to 1-6, while Piedmont improved to 3-2.

The first quarter was even with Piedmont holding a 19-17 edge. The teams went back and forth in the second quarter, but Piedmont extended their lead to 39-32 at the half.

Piedmont had a strong third quarter as they outscored the Spirits by 12 in the quarter. Salem cut the lead to 10 four different times in the fourth quarter, but they couldn't get any closer. Late foul trouble for the Spirits helped Piedmont pull away at the end.

Salem held the edge on rebounds (46-44) and steals (12-10). Mikayla Seivers scored 14 points and had 4 assists. Sabrina Shepherd had 13 points and 8 rebounds. Lewis led the Spirits with 4 steals.

Salem has two more home games before the holiday break. They play Hollins on Monday and Greensboro on Wednesday.
