Lewis wins GSAC Player of the Week again

ATLANTA - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the women's basketball Player of the Week for games played following the holiday break and, after voting by the league sports information directors, Salem's Quntashea Lewis captured the honor for the third time this season.

Quntashea Lewis (pictured at right) recorded two double-double games out of the three contests Salem competed in over the break. In Salem's first game of 2016 against Averett University, Lewis scored 21 points shooting 50% from the field at 9-of-18 and going 3-of-3 from the foul line, she pulled down 10 rebounds, 5 of which were offensive. Two days later in their game against William Peace, Lewis scored 24 points and had an impressive 20 rebounds, with 11 of those rebounds being from the offensive end. In the game versus William Peace, Lewis went to the charity strip 14 times, making 10.  In Salem's first conference win against Agnes Scott, Lewis finished her week with a 13 point game, including 8 rebounds and shooting 75% from the foul line.  

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
