Basketball falls short at Methodist

Fayetteville, NC-The Salem College basketball team could not avoid a sweep by Methodist University on the road. The Monarchs pulled away late for the 80-66 win. Alexiahonna Bush led the Spirits with a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. Salem falls to 3-13 overall, while Methodist improves to 9-4.

The game was tight the entire first half. Methodist held a 17-12 lead after the first quarter and led by 10 points at the half. Salem had a very strong third quarter. They outscored the Monarchs 17-10 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 49-46. The Monarchs went on a 20-3 run to pull away at the start of the final quarter. 

Quntashea Lewis finished with a team-high 18 points and she pulled down 9 rebounds. Sabrina Shepherd had 17 points and Mikayla Seivers finished with 10 points. Bush led the team with 2 blocks and Lewis had 4 steals.

Salem returns to Great South action this weekend when they host Georgia Wesleyan.
