The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2015-16 College Division All-State Women's Basketball Team on Wednesday. Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals. NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams. Teams are selected for men and women in both the college and university (NCAA Division I) divisions.
The 10-member 2015-16 NCCSIA College Division Women's Basketball All-State Teams are represented by 10 different North Carolina Colleges and Universities. First team honors went to Quntashea Lewis, of Salem, Kianna Wynn, of Barton, Arieal Johnson from the University of Mount Olive, Alisha Mobley, of Chowan University, and Anais Weatherly, of Guilford College.
Lewis earned Great South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year honors at Salem. The senior topped the league in both scoring (20.7) and rebounding (13.1). Lewis surpassed the 1,000-point plateau during the season and was a D3 Hoops All-South pick.
Winn was named the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year and first team all-conference for Barton. She poured in 16 points a game, while grabbing 9.4 rebounds a contest. Winn connected on 58.5% of her field goal attempts.
Johnson was a second team All-Southeast Region selection at Mount Olive after earning first team all-league honors. The junior averaged a double-double of 14.4 points and 10.4 rebounds a game. Johnson ranked third in NCAA II in blocked shots at 3.2 per contest.
Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, softball, and baseball.
