Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team will begin their first season in the USA South on the road this week against Methodist on November 15th at 7:00. Coach Britni Mohney will begin her third season at the helm of the program with six returners and three newcomers to the team. The Spirits begin East Division play on December 3rd at Piedmont.
Salem was picked in 6th place in the USA South West Division, while Methodist was picked third in the USA South East Division. The two teams played twice last year, with Methodist getting the series sweep.
Sabrina Shepherd is the leading returning scorer for the Spirits. She averaged 16.0 points per game last season. Mikayla Seivers also averaged double-digits last season with 11.4 points per game. Alexiahonna Bush is averaged 6.8 rebounds last season and Seivers averaged 5.6 assists.
