Basketball moves to 2-0 with win over Hollins

Salem, VA-The Salem College basketball team remained perfect with a 66-63 win today against Hollins at Roanoke College. Mikayla Seivers had her second straight double-double, and Sabrina Shepherd had a game high 23 points to lead the Spirits. Salem improves to 2-0, while Hollins falls to 1-1.

Salem held a lead throughout the game, but Hollins was able to keep within striking distance throughout. The Spirits led by 6 points at half and were able to move it to double-digits in the third quarter. Hollins was able to climb within a point late in the game, before an old-fashioned three point play by Seivers and free-throws by Shepherd sealed the deal for the win.

Seivers had 18 points and led the team with 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Hannah McBride had a strong game with 10 points and 9 rebounds, and Shepherd added 7 rebounds. Tamara Blanton had 4 assists and Alexiahonna Bush added 7 points and 5 rebounds. 

The Spirits will play the hosts of Roanoke College tomorrow at 1:00.
