Basketball drops first USA South game at Piedmont

Demorest, GA-The Salem College basketball team lost their first ever USA South conference game 82-62 at Piedmont. Sabrina Shepherd led the team with 21 points. Salem falls to 2-4 and 0-1, while Piedmont improves to 4-2 and 1-0.

The game was tight the entire first half. Piedmont held a 22-19 lead after the first quarter, and the Lions maintained a 3 point lead at the half. Piedmont pulled ahead to 65-49 after 3 quarters. 

Mikayla Seivers added 15 points and 6 assists. Alexiahonna Bush led the team with 11 rebounds, while Hannah McBride had 3 steals. Tamara Blanton and Aaliyah Webb each had 9 points.

Salem will play 2 more road games before the holiday break. They play at Greensboro on Monday and at Randolph on Wednesday.
