Late rally falls short against Mary Baldwin

Staunton, VA-A late rally by the Salem College basketball team fell just short in a 63-60 loss at Mary Baldwin. The Spirits came back from as far down as 20 points to cut it to 2 with just seconds remaining, before Mary Baldwin held on for the win. The Spirits fall to 2-8, while MBC improves to 2-9.

MBC held an early 21-12 lead after the first quarter, and they extended their lead to 40-20 at the half. The second half was all Salem as they cut the lead to 52-43 after three quarters, but they couldn't complete the rally as time ran out in the fourth quarter. 

Sabrina Shepherd led the team with 24 points, while Mikayla Seivers dropped 20 points. Alexiahonna Bush had an impressive 15 rebounds, and Hannah McBride sparked the defense with 7 steals.

The Spirits return to USA South action this weekend when they play at Maryville and at Covenant.
