Basketball picks up first USA South win

Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College basketball team defeated Agnes Scott to pick up their first USA South win in school history. The Spirits clawed back from a halftime deficit for the important win. Shenell Pharr, Sabrina Shepherd, and Alexiahonna Bush all scored 14 points to lead the Spirits. Salem improves to 1-1 in the USA South.

Salem jumped out to an 11-8 lead after the first quarter, before the Scotties took a 27-26 lead at the half. The Spirits took a 46-44 lead after 3 quarters.

Bush had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. She also had 4 blocks, including an important block on an Agnes Scott three-pointer with just seconds remaining in the game. Seivers led the team with 3 steals and 8 assists.

The Spirits return home tomorrow to play Wesleyan at 2:00.
