Basketball suffers loss against Huntingdon

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team battled back and forth with Huntingdon before the Hawks pulled away for a 69-61 win. Sabrina Shepherd led the team with 22 points. Salem falls to 2-4 in the USA South West Division, while Huntingdon improves to 5-2.

After falling behind early, the Spirits went on one of their most impressive runs of the season as they outscored the Hawks 17-2 to take a 26-17 lead after the first quarter. Huntingdon closed the lead to 36-34 at the half. The Hawks would take the advantage in the third quarter and went into the final period with a 56-49 advantage.

Taylor Mabe led the Spirits with 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Mikayla Seivers had 20 points and 5 assists, while Alexiahonna Bush had 4 blocks. Shepherd finished with 8 rebounds.

Salem stays home for more USA South action this Wednesday at 4:00 against Piedmont.
