Basketball Falls in Non-Conference Action

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team fell in their last game before USA South conference play begins this weekend. Hannah McBride had an impressive 11 steals in the 79-65 loss to Roanoke. The Spirits fall to 2-2, while the Maroons improve to 1-3. 

Roanoke was able to jump out to a 24-13 lead early against the Spirits after the first quarter. The next two quarters were played evenly, and Roanoke went in the fourth quarter with a 9 point advantage at 64-55. 

McBride finished with her second double-double of the season as she added 11 points. Sabrina Shepherd led the team with 20 points, while Mikayla Seivers had 11 and Aaliyah Webb had 10. Seivers led the Spirits with 8 rebounds, while McBride had a team-high 6 assists. 

Salem will host Meredith in their USA South opener this Sunday at 2:00.
