Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team lost a back and forth game with NC Wesleyan 71-66 in USA South East Division action. Sabrina Shepherd led the team with a double-double of 25 points and 15 rebounds. Salem falls to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in the USA South, while NC Wesleyan improves to 5-7 and 2-3.
Salem held a lead for the majority of the game. They were up 22-18 after the first quarter and then 41-39 at the half. Salem raised their lead to 8 points in the third before NC Wesleyan took a 55-52 lead going into the final quarter.
Mikayla Seivers added 12 points and led the team with 5 assists. Aaliyah Webb added 9 rebounds, and Shepherd led the team with 2 steals and a block.
Salem stays home on Wednesday to play Greensboro in conference play at 7:30.
