Basketball Comeback Against Greensboro Falls Short

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team fought back from a 16 point deficit to cut the lead to 2 late in the fourth quarter but Greensboro College was able to hold on for the 70-67 win. Sabrina Shepherd scored 23 points to lead Salem. The Spirits fall to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in the USA South, while Greensboro improves to 9-3 and 5-1.

Greensboro opened the game with an 18-2 run and held a 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Salem went on to win the next three quarters. They cut Greensboro's lead to 34-22 at the half. The Pride held a 12 point lead going into the final quarter before Salem cut the lead to 68-66 late. Greensboro was able to hit some key free-throws late to close out the win.

Shepherd was a perfect 3 for 3 from behind the three-point line. Tyler Davenport finished with 16 points and Mikayla Seivers had 11 points. Seivers led the team with 7 assists and Hannah McBride had a team high 7 rebounds. 

The Spirits hit the road to play at Mary Baldwin and Ferrum this weekend.
