Salem Concludes Tip Off Tournament Weekend with loss to Dickinson College

Washington, PA- Salem College basketball falls to the Dickinson College Red Devils in the Consolation Game of the Springhill Suites Invitational Tip Off, hosted by Washington & Jefferson College, with a final score of 59-81.

Salem gave a valiant effort, but were overpowered by the Red Devil's balanced scoring attack. The Spirits fall to 0-4 on the year.  Makalla Burnette lead all scorers with 18 points.

Senior Aaliyah Webb stepped up to garner her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds (6 off).  Webb commented after the game, "The score of the game does not define our journey as a team; we are constantly gaining heart and hustle as the season progresses.  Its' a new season with a lot of new players so we are still learning to gel; but it's coming together.  Despite injuries and odds not being in our favor; we rise together as a family. Our time in Pittsburgh was great and we really appreciated and enjoyed our experience.  The city was beautiful and it was a really great opportunity for us as a team to bond and to see Coach Mohney's hometown.  We want to thank all of our Pittsburgh friends and family for supporting us in the tournament this weekend."

D'Lesjah Jones put forth a great defensive effort by accumulating a game-high 5 steals.

Coach Britni Mohney, "The energy from the first game to the second game was our difference; we began to play more team basketball.  We are beginning to see players step up and take charge and that's what our program needs right now.  It was thrilling to see some very high moments in our game to help us prepare for conference play within the next two weeks."

The program enjoyed the remainder of their trip in Pittsburgh by touring the city and hometown of Coach Mohney.

The Spirits return home to take on the Quakers of Guilford College on Tuesday November 20th, 6pm.
