Salem Travels to Meredith College, Fall 56-64

Raleigh, NC- Meredith College hosted Salem College Wednesday night in their "Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer" game.  Both teams entered the ball game desperately needing a win in conference play. In a competitive, back and forth contest, Meredith was able to pull away late for a 64-56 win.

The Avenging Angels were able to capitalize on the offensive end by getting high percentage shots as they shot 47.9% from the field as a team.  They were lead by 32 Kimberly Schuh who shot 78% from the floor and 75% from the free throw line.

Spirits were lead by duo of Tamara Blanton and Makalla Burnette who scored 19 and 12 respectively.  The Spirits were also led by Blanton on the boards with 8 and steals from Burnette with 5.

Coach Mohney had this to say following the game, "Our shots were not falling for us in our contest against Meredith which made it a low scoring game for the team.  We did a great job coming out in the first half attacking on offense and lost that momentum when we came back at halftime.  Shots were not falling like they did and that can really swing the momentum against us.  We kept pushing to the finish which is what I continuously ask for from my team; if we have one consistency through the season it has been our heart."

The Spirits return to action Saturday afternoon for a non-conference contest against Piedmont International University.
