Salem Honors 3 Seniors in Final Home Game

Winston Salem, NC- Salem Spirits hosted Meredith College Avenging Angels Saturday afternoon, in the final home game for three senior players. Honored before the game for their hard work and contribution to Salem College Athletics were guards Taylor Mabe (5), Tamara Blanton (12), and forward Aaliyah Webb (23). The final score was 41-55 in favor of Meredith College.

In a low-scoring first half, Salem took command early in the contest leading 10-4 after one period, and maintaining the lead at half with a 18-16 score.  Meredith Avenging Angels stormed to a decisive advantage in the third period, outscoring the Spirits by 20 points.  

Tamara Blanton paced the Spirits with 13 points and eight rebounds. First Year Center Lauren Privette notched a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. 

Kimberly Schuh of Meredith College, led all scorers with 25 points on 9-17 shooting from the field. The Avenging Angels took advantage of the off-shooting night for Salem by outscoring them 20-12 in the paint and doubling up on points off of turnovers (14:7).

Salem Spirits are on the road against NC Wesleyan on Sunday, January 27th at 2:00 pm.
