Spirits Complete Home Schedule Versus William Peace

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Salem basketball team closes out the home portion of its 2019-20 schedule on Wednesday, Feb. 12, when it plays host to William Peace at Varsity Gym at 6 p.m.

All those in attendance at the Spirit Night contest are asked to wear their "We Are Salem" t-shirts in support of the team. Fans in attendance will receive free hot dogs and nachos with a special raffle taking place at halftime of the game.

Salem (0-22, 0-14 USA South) is led offensively by backcourt teammates Sydney Bowen (235 points) and Alize Brooks (219), while Aubrey Slaughter (171) and Dionne Sampson (129) have also eclipsed the 100-point scoring mark this season. Sophomore Lauren Privette needs just four points to give the Spirits their fourth triple-digit scorer of the campaign.

The tandem of Slaughter and Privette, who have hauled in 176 and 166 rebounds, respectively, lead Salem on the glass. Slaughter leads Salem in both offensive (61) and defensive (115) boards, while Privette has come through with 60 offensive and 106 defensive caroms.

William Peace (20-3, 13-1 USA South) tops the East Division Standings of the USA South, owning a one-game lead in the division over N.C. Wesleyan. The Pacers recently saw their season-long 15-game winning streak snapped with an 80-68 setback to Averett on Feb. 8. William Peace is responsible for a perfect 9-0 mark on the road this season.

Jaymesha Sanders is one of four players on the William Peace roster with at least 200 points, leading the unit with 297 (12.9 ppg), hitting 128-of-278 from the floor and 17-of-46 from beyond the arc. Teammates Mikayla Ray (268), Lauryn Cross (246) and Khadijah Daniels (222) have also topped the 200-point mark in 2019-20.
