Salem’s Privette Named to USA South All-Sportsmanship Unit

ROME, Ga. – After ending the 2019-20 season by leading the team with the most blocks (33) and finishing with the second-most rebounds (179), Salem sophomore Lauren Privette was named as a member of the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Privette, a defensive cog of Salem, tallied at least two blocks in 10 games over the course of the season. Her best single-game performance came on Nov. 20, 2019, when she had five blocks in 35 minutes against Johnson & Wales. She also managed four blocks in a clash with conference rival Greensboro on Feb. 5, 2020.

Along with being active on defense, Privette climbed the glass for 179 total rebounds, finishing second to only teammate Aubrey Slaughter, who came through with 192 boards. Privette snagged 62 of her 117 rebounds on the offensive glass, one shy of Slaughter's 63.

Privette managed to grab double-digit rebounds on nine occasions during the season. After opening the campaign with back-to-back double-digit rebound outings against Warren Wilson (12) and Johnson & Wales (13), she had a single-game season-high 14 boards (13 defensive) in a clash with N.C. Wesleyan (Dec. 4). Two days later, in a meeting with Pfeiffer, Privette had 11 rebounds, including four offensive.

During the month of January, Privette posted four double-digit rebound performances against Mary Baldwin (11), Greensboro (10), Pfeiffer (10) and Mary Baldwin (10) in succession.

A native of Statesville, N.C., Privette capped off the season with 106 points, reaching double figures against both Randolph College (10) and Averett (11).
