Lacrosse Falls in Home Opener to Methodist

Winston-Salem, NC-Allix Kean now will be written in the Salem College Lacrosse history books twice. Last week, she scored the first ever lacrosse goal for Salem and today she scored the first Salem goal ever on Salem's field. The Spirits fell to their USA South conference opponents from Methodist University 26-2. Salem is now 0-2 and 0-1 in conference, while the Monarchs improve to 2-1 and 1-0.

Methodist was able to jump out to a 19-0 lead at halftime. The Spirits had a much stronger second half as they held their opponents to just 7 goals and scored 2 of their own. Hannah Ostlund had an impressive 16 saves for Salem. 

Kean scored her goal with 9:45 remaining in the game, and Madison McCarthy scored Salem's second goal with 1:20 left. The Monarchs held a 60-3 shot advantage, 26-4 draw control advantage, and 16-2 ground ball advantage. Logan Bowling led the Spirits with 4 draw controls. 

Salem will head to Georgia and Alabama this weekend for USA South games against LaGrange and Huntingdon.
