Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College lacrosse team lost a USA South game against Ferrum today 18-6. The game was tight throughout the 1st half before the Panthers pulled away. Madison McCarthy led the Spirits with 6 goals. Salem is now 1-8, while Ferrum improves to 3-4.
Ferrum and Salem battled back and forth and the Panthers were up 8-3 before they scored the final 4 goals of the first half. The Panthers only outscored Salem 6-3 in the 2nd half.
Collette Vladimery had 2 goals for Salem. Hannah Ostlund had 13 saves. Salem cleared 12 of their 20 attempts. They also forced 9 Ferrum turnovers. Ostlund led the Spirits with 3 ground balls.
The Spirits return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Pfeiffer.
