Emma Rose completed her first full season at the helm of the Salem lacrosse program in 2019 after serving as an assistant coach during the Spirits’ inaugural spring season.

Rose was an integral part in the 2018 team that earned the first win in program history, which came over Sweet Briar on March 7. Exactly three weeks later, Rose was part of the staff that downed N.C. Wesleyan by a 13-12 victory in USA South Conference action.

Rose came to Salem after a successful playing career at Gardner-Webb, where she was a member of the program’s inaugural lacrosse team. A three-year letterwinner, Rose played in 52 games making 50 starts along the way. She completed her Runnin’ Bulldog career with 75 ground balls, 46 draw controls and 39 points as a midfielder.

Rose also made an impact in the classroom, earning Big South Presidential Academic Honors on three occasions. A team captain, Rose was named to the Big South All-Academic team in her senior year.

After graduating from Gardner-Webb with her bachelor’s degree in political science, Rose later earned her master of arts in sustainability from Wake Forest in 2019. In addition to her coaching duties, Rose also serves as an adjunct environmental science professor at Salem College.

Prior to her career in coaching, Rose served as a Project Management intern for SP3 Capital, overseeing a 10-member team. She provided insight and data for impact investing as well as serving as a liaison between the client and project team. Rose’s duties with the Charlotte-based business included creating and making recommendations for funds as well as compiling data.

Rose worked with Fields of Growth International, serving as a blogger for the World Lacrosse Foundation in Kampala, Uganda, Africa in May 2016. In that position she taught lacrosse and various team sports at the Hopeful School. Along with organizing events, she also conducted repairs and maintenance at the school.

The first coaching experience for Rose came in May 2015 when she served as the head coach for the U.S. Lacrosse South Florida Diversity team and BC Blues Travel Lacrosse program. Along with organizing practices, arranging transportation and serving as the financial oversight, Rose assisted the athletes with the college recruitment process.

A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Rose resides in Winston-Salem with her significant other and dog Leo. She is a Pi Sigma Alpha member.
