Soccer's Ketchum Selected Great South Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the fall sports week seven Players of the Week on Wednesday morning and student-athletes from Covenant and Salem were selected as winners through exclusive voting by the league sports information directors. This is the 4th time this season a Salem soccer player has earned the honors. Cross country did not compete this week so no Runner of the Week was named.

Week 6 Women's Soccer Player of the Week – first-year goalie Paige Ketchum of Salem College
Paige Ketchum recorded two shutouts this week in two very important Great South wins for Salem. She recorded seven key saves in a 1-0 win against Covenant, and three saves in a 2-0 win against Agnes Scott. The Spirits now have six straight shutouts and improve to 13-3 overall and 7-1 in the GSAC.

Week 6 Volleyball Player of the Week – sophomore setter Stephanie Kirkpatrick of Covenant College
For the week, Kirkpatrick had 62 assists, 18 digs, six kills, and four block assists. Against Huntingdon, Kirkpatrick tallied 28 assists, 11 digs, 2 kills, and one block solo and one block assist. In a 3-0 win over Reinhardt, Kirkpatrick had 34 assists, four kills, seven digs, and three block assists.

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
