Soccer advances to GSAC Championship with 5-0 win

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team will play in their second straight Great South Championship match against Agnes Scott after defeating Mills College 5-0. The Spirits dominated the match and Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) scored twice in the win. Salem improves to 14-3-2 overall.

The Spirits jumped out to a lead in the 27th minute on a goal from Tarryn Bundy (West Deptford, NJ) that was assisted by Summer Rich (Morehead City, NC). Ferguson scored on a penalty kick in the 36th minute. She put Salem up 3-0 two minutes later, and that was the score at the break. 

Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA) scored a little over a minute into the second half on an assist by Amber Lee (Charleston, SC) and Rich. Victoria Chaffers (Deltona, CA) finished the scoring in the 63rd minute on an assist by Taylor Norman (Fairfax, VA).

Salem had a 32-1 shot advantage and a 15-0 corner kick advantage. Twenty-five different players saw action for Salem. The Spirits will play in tomorrow's championship at 12:00.
