Soccer Wins Big in First Game

Takoma Park, MD-It took Salem College soccer sixteen seconds to score their first goal of the season as they rolled to a convincing victory at Washington Adventist. Tarryn Johnson scored a hat trick in her first collegiate game as the Spirits won 12-0. Salem is now 1-0 overall, while Adventist falls to 0-1.

The Spirits took a 6-0 lead into the break. They out-shot Adventist 46-0 and had a 14-0 corner kick advantage.

Fellow first years, Brooke Bukas and Jordan Lanier, each scored two goals for Salem. Jocelyn Evans, Taylor Norman, Heather Huffman, Liz Smetana, and Sierra Hutchins also scored for Salem. Norman and Jasmine Romero finished with two assists each. Tarryn Bundy, Nataly Mojica, Sawyer Ferguson, and Kaci McDaniel all had one assist. Kimmi Templeton and Sarah Slates split time in goal for Salem.

The Spirits return to action next weekend at the Meredith Classic in Raleigh. They will face pre-season USA South number three pick Meredith on Saturday. On Sunday, they will go against pre-season USA South number one pick Piedmont.
