Soccer loses at Barton 2-0

Wilson, NC-The Salem College soccer team fell on the road to Barton 2-0 last night. Barton, a member of NCAA Division II, scored a goal in each half for the win. Salem falls to 4-2, while Barton improves to 2-1-1. 

The two teams went back and forth in the first half. Barton held a 4-2 shot advantage over the first 44 minutes, but they scored in the 45th minute to take a 1-0 lead into the half.

Barton got their second goal early in the second half. Salem finally broke down Barton over the last twenty minutes. Nataly Mojica hit a 25 yard shot that Barton goalie had to make a finger-tip save on. Summer Rich had a break-away diverted at the last second by a Barton center-back. Salem also had two corner kicks cleared off the line in the last ten minutes.

The Spirits return to the road this weekend to take on West Virginia Tech on Friday at 5:00.
