Ferguson (Soccer) and Henderson (Volleyball) win GSAC Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Great South Athletic Conference announced the fall sports Players of the Week for all contests played October 20 - 26 and, following voting by the league sports information directors, Sawyer Ferguson of Salem won Women's Soccer Player of the Week while the Spirits' Zy Henderson collected Volleyball Player of the Week.

 

GSAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week – Sawyer Ferguson of Salem

Sawyer Ferguson, a senior from Billings, Montana, became the first soccer player in Salem history to score 100 points in a career. Her two goals this week gave her 101 career points. She now has 41 career goals and 19 assists. She has helped lead Salem to a 14-4 record this season.

 

GSAC Volleyball Player of the Week – Zy Henderson of Salem


In a match for the ages, Salem College Senior Libero Zy Henderson led the way in Salem College's win over Agnes Scott on Saturday. The win secured Salem the regular season GSAC title. Henderson led both teams with a remarkable 38 digs. Additionally, Henderson put Salem College and the GSAC on the NCAA Dlll National radar this week by breaking into the top 5 Nationally with her remarkable 6.47 digs per set. 

 

 

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
