Canepa and Norman earn All-Region Soccer Honors

Kansas City, MO-Morgan Canepa, a sophomore from Elko, NV, and Taylor Norman, a senior from Fairfax, VA, have joined only two other athletes in Salem College history to receive NCAA All-Region honors. Canepa and Norman were selected to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's All-South Atlantic Region Team for their play in the 2014 season.

The two players helped lead Salem back to the NCAA DIII Tournament for the second straight year and to their second straight Great South Tournament Championship with an 18-5 overall record. Canepa and Norman join Stephanie Hubbard (Soccer) and Satavia Taylor (Basketball) as the only athletes at Salem to earn these honors.

Canepa, a two-year starting defender, anchored a defense that only allowed 1.17 goals against for the season. She played more minutes than anyone in the Great South and she added three goals and two assists from the backline. She was a Great South All-Conference Selection for the second straight year.

Norman, a four-year starting midfielder, was the Great South Tournament Most Valuable Player. She also made the NCCSIA All-State Team. Norman helped lead the Spirits to a record breaking 95 goals and 4.1 goals per game this season. She finished with nine goals and five assists.
