Morgan Fancher joins Salem soccer staff

Winston-Salem, NC-Head Coach Jay Callahan is excited to announce that Morgan Fancher has joined the Salem College soccer staff. Fancher recently graduated from Appalachian State, where she was a four-year member of their NCAA Division I program. The Spirits won three straight Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) regular season titles and two GSAC tournaments.

"Morgan is very energetic and has the potential to become a great coach," said Callahan. "Along with her energy, we think her background at App. will help to continue to grow our program."

She grew up in The Colony, Texas where she played for the '93 Dallas Sting Soccer Club. Fancher was on the North Texas State and Region ODP team. She then went on to play all four years at Appalachian State. Within her career she had 1 goal, 4 assists, and played in 45 games.

In 2011, Fancher helped lead the Mountaineers to their first overtime win since 2004 in a game against Furman, where she had the game winning assist. During her time at App. State she played as a defensive midfielder for the Mountaineers, and occasionally as a center back.

Off the field, Fancher received a Bachelors of Science in Communication Studies with a minor in Health Education. She was also named to the Dean's List twice in her college career. She has assisted with camps at Appalachian State and Central Arkansas State.

Fancher will also work at Salem Academy as the activities director and as a house counselor. She will assist the soccer program with game and practice planning, recruiting, and other duties.

"We are excited for Morgan to join us this August, and I feel that she will bring some new ideas to the program," said Coach Callahan.
