Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team defeated future USA South opponent N.C. Wesleyan 2-0 today to kick off the Salem Soccer Classic. Brooke Bukas and Tarryn Johnson each had a goal. Salem improves to 3-1, while NC Wesleyan falls to 1-2-1.
Bukas scored in the 19th minute on an assist by Heather Huffman. The Spirits went into the break with a 1-0 advantage. Johnson scored in the 79th minute off of a corner by Sydney Priest. Kimmi Templeton earned the shutout with 6 saves. Salem had a 7-3 corner kick advantage, and an 11-6 shots on goal advantage.
The Spirits will play Guilford tomorrow at 2:30 as they try to win the Salem Soccer Classic.
