Salem earns 2-1 home win against Methodist

Winston-Salem, NC-Maddie Crumpton had a goal and an assist to give Salem an important 2-1 home victory against USA South's Methodist University. Methodist played in the USA South Championship game last season. Hannah Huskey scored the game-winning goal in the win. Salem improves to 5-3, while Methodist falls to 4-3.

Crumpton scored in the 27th minute off of an assist by Jordan Lanier. Salem went into the break with a 1-0 lead and a 7-6 shot advantage.

Huskey scored just two minutes into the second half to extend the lead to 2-0 off of a pass by Crumpton. Methodist got a goal back in the 70th minute off of a free kick. Ten minutes later, Salem had a player sent off for her second yellow card. Kimmi Templeton and the Salem defense held off Methodist and several shots over the last ten minutes for the win.

Salem returns to action on Saturday when they host Eastern Mennonite at 2:00.
