Maddie Crumpton wins GSAC Soccer Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the fall sports Players of the Week for events competed September 21 -27 and, after voting by the league sports information directors, Maddie Crumpton of Salem captured the soccer honor, Shikirah Dodson of Agnes Scott won the volleyball prize, and Salem's  Janine Bardell won the cross country distinction.

GSAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week – Maddie Crumpton of Salem

Maddie Crumpton, a first-year from Wilmington, N.C., had a huge week to help Salem improve to 6-3 on the season. In an important 2-1 win over USA South title contender Methodist, she scored the first goal of the match. She then recorded her first career hat trick in an 8-2 win against ODAC member Eastern Mennonite. For the week she tallied 4 goals and 8 points. She currently leads the Great South with 7 goals and 16 points. 

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
