Soccer wins 10th game for 7th straight year

Macon, GA-The Salem College soccer team scored six goals in the first 21 minutes to breeze past Wesleyan 10-0 in a Great South match. This marks the 7th straight year that the Spirits have won at least 10 games. They are the only GSAC school and only DIII school in North Carolina to do this. Brooke Bukas had an impressive 2 goals and 4 assists and Maddie Crumpton added a hat-trick in the win. Salem improves to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the Great South with the win.

Jordan Lanier started off the scoring in the 3rd minute on an unassisted goal. Hannah Huskey scored a minute later on a pass from Bukas. Bukas scored an unassisted goal in the 8th minute. Tarryn Johnson scored in the 13th minute on another assist by Bukas. Crumpton scored her first in the 18th minute on a cross by Bukas, and she scored 3 minutes later with an unassisted goal. The Spirits took a 6-0 lead into the break. 

They scored four more goals early in the second half. Morgan Canepa scored on a set-piece assisted by Bukas. Crumpton scored her 3rd goal on a pass from Johnson in the 60th minute. Bukas scored her final goal in the 70th minute. Sierra Hutchins scored her first goal of the season on a pass from Grace Young.

Paige Ketchum and Sarah Slates split time in goal for the shutout. The Spirits dominated the stat-sheet as they had a 49-2 shot advantage and a 10-1 corner kick advantage.

Salem returns to action in another GSAC match at home against Agnes Scott this coming Saturday at 2:00.
