Brooke Bukas wins Great South Soccer Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the fall sports Players of the Week for events competed October 26 – November 1 and, after voting by the league sports information directors, Brooke Bukas of Salem captured the soccer award with Kaleigh McCrary of Agnes Scott won the volleyball honor.

GSAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week – Brooke Bukas of Salem

Brooke Bukas, a sophomore forward, had a huge week this week. In an important 2 to 1 win against Roanoke, Bukas finished with both goals, including the game-winning goal in overtime. Bukas added 2 goals and 2 assists in an 8-0 win at Trinity Washington. In her last five games, Bukas has 8 goals and 7 assists to help Salem finish the regular season at 13-2.

 

GSAC Volleyball Player of the Week – Kayleigh McCrary of Agnes Scott
McCrary, a junior outside hitter for the Scotties, had a stellar week for the Scotties, hitting for a .360 hitting percentage over two matches on the week.  In a straight-set victory over Wesleyan College, Kayleigh led the team with 8 kills, while hitting for a .467 hitting percentage.  She also contributed in many other areas, logging 9 digs, 5 service aces, and 3 block assists for the two matches.  She currently sits in third place in the GSAC in hitting percentage with a .196 average this season.

 

 

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
